The versatility of the use of resin floors makes it possible to successfully use them in a variety of industrial indoor spaces. Choosing the right type of floors will guarantee comfortable, safe and long-lasting use in industrial facilities, public utilities, garages, workshops, etc. Epoxy resins for floors will also work perfectly on stairs, exit ramps, allowing fully safe movement. The multitude of their possible applications is really impressive. Check out what else is worth knowing about them.
Benefits of resin floors
Thanks to their special properties, resin floors are often chosen as the final covering for industrial flooring in underground parking lots, warehouses, industrial halls, manufacturing plants and workshops. Virtually complete polyurethane tightness and seamlessness of the floors, as well as the thickness of the coating, make their use long-term and trouble-free. Industrial resin floors for flooring, are easy to keep clean, so they do not generate the need for complicated care. Seamless epoxy resin flooring, due to the possibility of blending in decorative elements and creating colorful or uniformly colored compositions, is great for striking visualization of residential interiors. Depending on the system used, resin flooring can be smooth or non-slip.
Resin flooring – what types of flooring are there?
Among the range of available types of resin systems, epoxy resin floors are the most commonly used. Depending on the location, visual expectations, and conditions of use, resin floors can also be divided into:
- thin-coat – intended for use in residential, technical, utility and storage areas,
- thick-coat – intended for use in a variety of manufacturing, storage, technical, public facilities and parking systems,
- thick-bedded quartz (natural or colored sand backfill) – intended for use wherever we need an anti-slip and easy-to-clean surface – very common in parking systems.
Si-Tech epoxy resin flooring
Our resin floors are the highest quality epoxy resin products tailored to meet the diverse requirements of investors from almost every business sector and institutional space, as well as the needs of individual customers. Produced according to the implemented technological innovations, resin floors are characterized, according to expectations and specific choice, by a number of properties that guarantee safe and comfortable use for many years. Among the most important are, first of all:
- resistance to abrasion – minimizing the formation of damage due to intensive pedestrian traffic and various motor vehicles in the traffic routes of logistics centers, warehouses, industrial and commercial facilities. Bringing tangible benefits, postponing the possible repair of damaged or not very aesthetic surface,
- chemical resistance – providing very good protection against the effects of oils, and other chemicals, including those with corrosive properties in enterprises producing or using aggressive chemicals. Maintaining a significantly longer functionality of the floor compared to the mineral system,
- impact resistance – epoxy resin flooring protects the surface from the impact of dropped workshop tools and other light objects. It maintains the aesthetics of polyurethane flooring for longer, free of depressions, cavities and even holes,
- strength – guaranteeing high protection against the pressure of significant loads and compressive forces present, for example, in production environments using heavy equipment, mobile equipment and wheeled vehicles. Enabling production processes to be maintained in the long term, without the necessary interruptions for repair of traffic and process lines,
- resistance to heavy traffic – long-term protection of the polymer floor surface from significant pedestrian, vehicle and equipment traffic. Maintaining its quality for trouble-free use and without the need for major repairs,
- anti-skid – professional protection against slipping and its consequences of people in enterprises, industrial plants, commercial and public facilities. Increased level of surface friction (special anti-slip texture) minimizes the risk of mishaps,
- resistance to water penetration – a significant increase in the level of impermeability of the floor, which, if the frequency of direct contact is not too high, reduces penetration to almost zero. Providing protection against damage and the need for necessary and often expensive repairs,
- life – maintaining resistance to wear for many years, providing protection against harsh conditions and significant traffic. Resistance to systematic treatments related to cleaning or mechanical removal of the resulting dirt,
- less seamlessness – ideal for industrial, commercial, hospital areas, where all structural joints are missing. Smooth industrial flooring not only creates a striking impression of open space, but also prevents the accumulation of dirt and microorganisms, allowing trouble-free cleaning. It also ensures efficient movement of people and equipment. What’s more, it is resistant to chemicals and mechanical factors,
- self-levelling – the ability to quickly make a resin floor with a selflevelling effect without much work. Guaranteed to obtain an extremely even surface in many industries (e.g. pharmaceutical, technological, food),
- texture – the use of a form of backfill with natural or colored sand for obtaining a rough surface with non-slip and at the same time aesthetic features, such as in hotels, restaurants, public areas, as well as production halls. The advantage is a wide range of colors.
Si-Tech System
This is a range of flooring products to choose from, the use of which makes it possible to achieve extremely durable and long-lasting epoxy resin floors.
- Thin-film system based on Meteor Aqua – semi-matte, vapor-permeable epoxy resin (product available with a large selection of colors – full RAL palette), designed for applications where vapor-permeable coating is needed (bottom slabs of parking lots)
- Thick coat system based on Meteor Color Parking – a colorful, solvent-free, self-spreading two-component epoxy resin with high gloss for surface smooth self-leveling and quartz sand backfill systems, available in all RAL colors.
- Transparent based system Meteor Finish – a clear, two-component, solvent-free epoxy set for use as a closing coat for decorative and industrial coatings. Mainly used to create stone carpets using colored quartz sands.
The excellent utility and design qualities of the proposed resin floors are accompanied by attractive prices and the support of our specialists in selecting the right ones for the place and its requirements.
Epoxy resin flooring for underground garages – SELECTING THE RIGHT SYSTEM
Application:
Rigid flooring system designed to make anti-slip coverings of traffic routes, parking areas and exit ramps and other floors with varying degrees of anti-slip. It is designed for typical vehicular traffic of cars and trucks.
System selection:
For the correct selection of flooring systems, it is important to distinguish the components of the underground garage:
- Bottom slab
- Floor decks
- Descent ramps
- Footpaths and technical rooms without vehicular traffic
Example systems for different parts of the parking lot
Bottom slab, vapor permeable system:
- Primer layer: Meteor Aqua diluted by 20% with water
- Top coat: Meteor Aqua
Bottom slab in white bathtub system without risk of water evaporation through concrete:
- Primer layer: Meteor Primer
- Basic layer: Meteor Primer W or Meteor Color Parking + sand backfill
- Top coat: Meteor Color Parking
Slab floors:
- Primer/basic layer: Meteor Primer W + sand backfill
- Top coat: Meteor Color Parking
Slope ramps:
- Primer coat: Meteor Primer
- Basic layer: Meteor Primer W or Meteor Color Parking + sand backfill
- Top coat: Meteor Color Parking
Pedestrian routes and technical rooms without vehicular traffic:
Here one of two systems can be used: water system as for bottom slabs or thick-bed system as for floor floors.
Soil selection according to subsoil
Conditioned (dry) concrete of at least class C30, dry with no possibility of moisture pull-up | Meteor Primer W / Meteor Primer or for water-based systems Meteor Aqua diluted by 20% with water |
Seasoned (dry) lower grade concrete | Meteor Primer or for water-based systems Meteor Aqua diluted by 20% with water |
Crete with increased moisture | Two layers of Meteor Water Membrane without sand dredging |
Performance tip:
Priming with a transparent primer without backfilling with a strip allows optimal preparation of the substrate before further operations, thus achieving the right peel resistance for the entire system.
Priming with a transparent primer makes it possible to reveal problems with the substrate at a very early stage of the work, such as localized dampness or areas of increased absorbency.
